Back to School after SNOWSTORM
I hope you have been enjoying this historic snow event.  We will hopefully be back in class next week, and we will have some make-up work to do.  Here are some ideas to help your child get ready to return:
  • Reread Coyote Places the Stars before Tuesday.  Students were asked to bring reading books home.
  • Review the Ancient Mali study guide.  We will make up the missed test on Tuesday after a short review.
  • Review spelling words (homophones).  Students will also need to know the correct usage for each word.
  • Start practicing multiplication facts!  A multiplication study guide was sent home.
I look forward to seeing everyone!

Simple Machines
Thank you for your help with the Simple Machine Projects.  They were terrific!
Math Project
We are trying to collect 1,000 bottle caps in our classroom!  Please send in plastic caps with your child.  Our goal is to collect 1,000 by December 20.  This project will help us to understand place value.
Student Holidays
Please remember that Nov. 2-3 are teacher workdays (and conferences).  Students do not have school on these days.
Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences are on Tuesday, Nov. 3.  Please be sure to return your conference form so I can schedule a convenient time to meet with you and discuss your child's progress.
Canned Food Drive
We are collecting canned goods and other non-perishable items through Nov. 4.  Donations should be brought to the classroom.  The class with the most donations wins a prize!
Pajama Day
Friday, Oct. 23, is PAJAMA DAY!  Students can wear pajamas to school.
Daily Homework Assignments
Students are expected to read for 20 minutes each night.  They need to record the date and title in their reading logs to keep track of their reading, and remember to bring this log to school every day.  Parents are encouraged to initial this log each evening.

Students will have regular Spelling assignments Monday-Thursday.  There will be a weekly Spelling test every Friday.

Students will also frequently have Math homework pages in their Homework folders.  These pages will review concepts we have learned in class.

Please check your child's agenda for additional assignments and events.  Homework assignments are also outlined in the "Homework" class file on this site.
